A beautiful world of WORDS

Who says, a friend is one who helps you always being near you? Upasana, being away from my sight, was close to my heart sharing and caring. I do feel that penpalling is almost a sort of therapy for people like me which helps cope up with life’s problems. It is a very good feeling of having a pen pal. Listening to pal’s worries has helped me learn how life is. Also it improved me in every means. It is such a wonderful vehicle for friendship and mutual understanding in this diverse world. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day 1- It was a Sunday morning when I woke up suddenly. I had a bad dream. Got ready as quick as possible and went away without informing my mom a word about where was I going and what for. I went to Smt. G.S high school almost 9 kms away from my home just to see whether ‘She’ was there or not. Day 2- I and my mom went shopping. There was a fair, beautiful and tall girl standing besides my mom with long brown hair.

A trip to..."HEAVEN"..

The vicious sound of the alarm clock woke me up with a start. Two three huge yawns later I pushed myself out of the bed with very li'l effort caz I couldn't sleep all night. I looked into the bathroom mirror. A ghost with baggy eyes stared back at me. Scccaarry...No one, believe me no one could wake me up this early in the morning. My granny tried to wake me up during my exams, but no way...I woke up but slept behind my books...hahaha...Well it was for my loving husband whom I got to pick up early morning from the airport. I finally got ready within half an hour and stood near the door waiting for the driver to come. He was late…  We rushed to the air port, my eyes were searching for him with excitement. There….There he was…I found him and ran towards him n gave a huuuugeee hug. After a really very long time, I could see him finally. It was a planned trip to Vaishnav mata. It's said you can visit Devi maa only when her bulawa comes. Truly said. I tried to visit Devi tw

Slapped, kicked, and abused – Where’s women's empowerment on TV gone?

Women are slapped, kicked, abused and raped in popular shows like 'Naa Aana Iss Des Laado', 'Balika Vadhu' and 'Pratigya' that reach over 130 million households in India and they seem to be doing little to empower women. These supposedly socially relevant shows started as attempts to break away from the chestnut of kitchen politics and tackle themes like female infanticide, child marriage and discrimination. But soon they turned out to be half-hearted efforts, showing violence towards women rather than creating awareness against such atrocities. Of late, these shows have been depicting scenes where a husband physically abuses his wife only because she stands up against him, or in another show, the husband slaps his wife hard for arguing with him. How these shows talk about women's empowerment then, many viewers ask. Such depiction of subjugation is 'intolerable', according to noted actress and social activist Shabana Azmi…as I read @ the link of IANS

Gimme a monsoon break- 2

“Is this the time you should come to the class? Can’t you be regular? , my teacher exclaimed. It was her usual way of reacting. I still remember her enraged face whenever she saw a student coming to the class late. It got on to her nerves when anyone would ask permission to get inside the class. “I actually waited for a long time for the rain to stop ma’m, that’s why it took so long to reach the school. I thought I could make it here when the rain eased a bit, but…” I cooked up a story, with the completely innocent face and thought she might be convinced. Nope…It was rainy season. She asked me the reason why I didn’t wear a raincoat or have umbrella. How could I say, I wanted to be drenched n I love rains??? I was punished that day. Yeah, I enjoyed being punished. She asked me to stand outside ma classroom. Yeah!!! There he was…the bright sun. That was the bestEST punishment I’ve had ever got. Being doused in rain and getting dry under the sun…amazing.

Office-Office Part2

Hmmm…Didn’t include few things about ma office. Well… Jitna b bolo, kam hai office life k bare me ..I feel. Forgot that gossip about our newly joined team head. Forgot the useless discussions about hot topics going on by one of our colleagues. Forgot to describe that tedious, gloomy and overwrought face of Uncle Joe, who loved to gossip about INDIAN WOMEN and WIVES ;) Forgot the comments we got for our recent buzz on gmail. Forgot some suggestions we gave and secrets we shared. Forgot the feelings we understood without expressing them. Forgot the comments we passed f d guy sitting just opposite to our cabin. Forgot the photoshopper guy, he was like a S*ine ;) Forgot those grimy looks we gave when one came to our cabin without reason. Forgot to include the man who took few seconds to utter our names. Oh! We respect him d most till now… Forgot to write about the guy who bought toffees with a nice good evening wish. Forgot those moments we eagerly waited for our each other when we had s

Office Office

It sometime feels good to be wedded. But most of the times, I badly miss my days I’d spend @ ma office. Couldn’t enjoy that much @ School and College was full of dumb people everywhere. Got to know what real fun is…when I joined the office. The inner prankster of mine came out with naughty and tricky pranks this time. But only for a while. - Work stands first of course… After that, me used to chat with my husband, for a change, me n ma colleague plunked our lunch boxes in the sideboard/drawer and when out for partying at SukhSagar or ManjuMamta. - When we come, we dreadfully needed that A.C on in our cabin. We were just two. But the office looked empty without us says our boss…And yeah!! We two were equal to several funniest pranksters. - We enjoyed summers by having packet full of ‘kakdis’ every now and then. We squabbled with the canteen staff for serving us cold and foul-tasting ginger tea. (Well that tea some times had no ginger in it to be called as Ginger tea properly)… And many
